Make life easy for your guests and start a registry and be specific about what you like and want. Be sure to include something at every price point, and your guests will feel good about the fact that they are getting you something you will value. Something along the lines of "No Boxed Gifts Please" usually indicates that you would prefer cash.
Finally, a nice idea if you prefer not to receive anything specific from your guests, is asking them to donate to your favorite charity. Again, your guests will appreciate you taking the guesswork out of attending your wedding and you can feel good about getting exactly what you want!
